The legislative session is well underway and the Chamber’s Advocacy Council is actively monitoring 36 bills under our broad policy agenda. With over 3000 bills introduced thus far, the Chamber has leveraged partner organizations to engage in support or opposition of our key initiatives: Affordable Housing, Access to Child Care, COVID Economic Stability and Resilience, Tax and Fiscal Policy and other General Business Issues.
A major deadline passed today, Friday March 19th, as all bills that have not been scheduled for a hearing will be postponed indefinitely and cease to move forward. However there are likely to be over 1000 bills that remain in play for the remainder of the legislative session. Closures due to COVID-19, coupled with the unprecedented wildfires this fall, have had a devastating impact on Oregon’s breweries, wineries, cideries, distilleries, restaurants, bars and hospitality sector.
