High Desert Conservation Corps is now recruiting 18-24 year old’s for our fuels-specific crew, based out of Redmond. We are hiring 6 crew members for this AmeriCorps term of service, and the program runs from January 16 through June 20. The focus is to help protect communities in Central Oregon by reducing wild land fire fuels.  This is a great opportunity for young adults to get their foot in the door for a career in wild land firefighting by learning skills of trade and earning professional certifications. No experience necessary, on the job training provided, education award upon successful completion, and most important- gain a fun and valuable work experience.

 

AmeriCorps Term specifics:

20 Weeks (January-June)
Living Allowance (all pre-tax)
Total – $9,000
Bi-weekly – $900 – Each pay period
Education Award (upon successful completion)
$2,474.27 (can be used in 7 years from completion date)

Fire School
CPR/First Aid
S-212
Home Ignition Zone
Other possible certs: Flagger, Chipper, OSHA 10
Lots of hands-on training with chainsaws, brush cutters, chipper
Possibly some overnight opportunities
Professional Development and enrichment activities
